Client Background
A national furniture brand serving both retail and wholesale markets. Their Shopify storefront caters to interior designers, distributors, and large-scale buyers who rely on visual context for purchasing.
Problem
B2B buyers and designers needed a faster way to discover and purchase complementary furniture sets. The standard collection browsing flow was too slow and siloed for this audience.
The Solution
We designed and built a dynamic “Shop by Room” feature. It allowed users to view full room layouts, click product hotspots, and add entire coordinated sets to cart — all from one visual interface.
Challenges
- Designing an interactive UI that worked across breakpoints
- Syncing hotspots with real products and variant data
- Making it easy to update layouts without hard coding
- Creating mobile-first logic for popovers and tooltips
- Managing layout and content for different room types
Approach
- Discovery & Planning: Identified key buyer behaviors and merchandising priorities
- Hotspot Design: Created a flexible system to visually tag products on room layouts
- Dynamic Tooltip Build: Developed popovers showing product info, price, and quick actions
- Room Logic: Implemented logic to show different looks/menus based on user selection
- Mobile Optimization: Adapted UX for touch interfaces with collapsible menus
- QA & Live Deployment: Tested with real SKUs and launched after client demos and sign-off
Results
- Full room collections now shoppable from one page
- Buyers can add items instantly
- Optimized for desktop and mobile shoppers
- Hotspots and layouts are easy for client to update
